DIY Sturdy Garden Bench- Free Building Plans
Hey guys! I can’t wait to show you this great bench I just designed and built. I needed a bench for my yard, so I came up with this cool DIY Bench, and I love the way it turned out! And I am so excited to share the free plans over on BuildSomething.com– BuildSomething is Kreg’s new DIY project plan site.
I knew I wanted my bench to be super sturdy because it might end up by our fire pit, and I have 4 rambunctious kids who are destined to tip over whatever they’re sitting-slash-climbing-slash-jumping on. So I used 4×4 posts for the legs to make sure there wouldn’t be any bench-tipping on my watch. This bench is SUPER sturdy, and is sure to last for years to come.
I also knew I wanted this bench to be simple to build, so except for the legs, it’s made entirely out of 2×4 building studs. Not only do the 2×4’s make the bench sturdy and easy to build, but they’re also pretty inexpensive. This entire bench cost less than $60 to build. And I used my Kreg Jig to create pocket holes to hold the entire thing together, which is pretty cool, cause there aren’t any screws to be seen in the whole bench.
Besides sturdy and cheap, this bench is also super comfy to sit on. It can easily fit 3 to 4 people (read: my husband and I with 4 kids climbing on top of us).
