DIY Modern Bike Rack
Free building plans for a DIY modern bike rack
I have 4 young kids, so needless to say, I’ve got bikes and scooters making a mess of my garage! I knew I needed a bike storage solution, but I didn’t love the DIY bike racks I have seen before. I feel like they almost make the situation worse because of all the messy bars and contraptions. So I decided to come up with my own bike storage solution, and I made this modern DIY bike rack.
I knew I wanted a bike rack where you could pull bikes in on both sides, because other DIY bike racks I’d seen had all the bikes on one side and I just pictured handle bars getting stuck together and making a big mess.
I also wanted something I could park bikes OR scooters in, because we have lots of both! So I designed this to fit a standard scooter as well as any size bike, from my 3 year old’s balance bike all the way up to my beach cruiser!
The whole project only took an hour or two to put together, and cost less than $30 in materials! There aren’t any fancy tools involved either!
I used my kreg jig to drill pocket holes, an impact driver, a circular saw with my rip cut, and my jig saw.
I shared these plans over on buildsomething.com, so hop over there to download the plans and print them out to build your own DIY modern bike rack.
