Quick and Easy Animal Masks
I’m excited to share these quick and easy animal masks. These are the perfect kid craft for your family.
My kids love to dress up and use their imaginations, so I made them these masks for them, and they LOVE running around pretending to be different animals. These would also be perfect if you need a simple, last minute costume. They literally take about 10 minutes to make, and they are so simple, your kids could even help make them!
I’ve seen similar masks sewn out of felt, but my version is even more simplified, they are sturdy, and you aren’t going to need to sew a single stitch!
Supplies:
Foam sheets- buy from amazon here: https://amzn.to/2TOEaAl
Thin Elastic- you can find this in most craft stores, or from amazon here: https://amzn.to/2N6B4oJ

Step 2: Trace and Cut
Cut out the paper template and trace it onto your foam sheet with a pen. Then cut out your foam mask.
Step 3: Check Eyes
You should probably do this with the paper template before you cut the foam, but make sure your mask fits your child’s face. I made them for my 3 and 6 year old, and they worked great. But you might have to adjust the eye holes to fit your child.
Step 4: Add embellishments
The template also includes all of the embellishment pieces you’ll need, or you can create your own embellishments. Cut them out and hot glue them onto your mask.Â
Step 5: Secure elastic
Then, using a pen, poke a hole in each side of the mask, but stay about half an inch away from the edge so it won’t rip through the edge.
Thread your elastic through the hole and tie it. You’ll need to measure the elastic on your child’s head before you cut it. I cut my elastic about 10 to 12 inches for my children.
Step 6: Enjoy
Try it on, and make sure you’ve got a good fit.
And you’re done!
If your animal needs some freckles (like my bear, dog, and lion), or you want to add spots or stripes, use a regular black sharpie.
These were seriously so addicting to make! I loved doing them with my kids. And they are quick and easy (and cheap) to make.
My kids were THRILLED each time we’d finish up an animal mask. They’ve provided hours and hours of fun already.
Our favorites are the owl…
and the lion.
