Campfire Twirly Dogs- a TWIST on Campfire Hotdogs
These campfire twirly dogs are a fun twist on traditional campfire hotdogs.
School is ending soon, and my entire family is getting excited for Summer to be here! We love being together as a family, gathered in the backyard enjoying campfire hotdogs (and s’mores of course!). I love that Summertime is an excuse to cook everything outside on the fire or the grill, and since my husband and kids love campfire hotdogs so much, I thought we’d put a fun twist on the old classic. These campfire twirly dogs are so fun for the kids and adults too! My entire family loved them.
How to make campfire twirly dogs:
- Thaw frozen roll dough until soft.
- Roll each roll into a 12-inch rope.
- Wrap the rope around a hot dog 2 or 3 times, securing ends in dough.
- Place each Twirly Dog on a roasting stick.
- Cook over campfire or coals, turning often, about 20 minutes or until dough is cooked and browned. (Can also be baked in 350 degrees F oven 15-20 minutes)
- Serve with your favorite hot dog fixins.
My kids thought these twirly dogs were the best campfire hotdogs they’d ever had! They were thrilled with being able to help me make them, cook them, and consume them! haha.
Which is awesome, because any mom knows what a battle it can be to get kids to want to eat their dinner! So when I don’t hear a single complaint, I’m sold! I’ll definitely be adding these twirly dogs to my Summer dinner rotation, and I hope you will too.
