Modern Outdoor Chair (free building plans)
This modern outdoor chair is sleek and comfortable. I’m so excited to offer free building plans along with instructions on how to build an outdoor chair.
I love the look of modern furniture, but the price tag- ooph! So I decided I would design and build my own modern outdoor chairs, and I am so happy with the way they turned out. And would you believe me if I told you that this pair of chairs only cost about $40 in lumber? Pretty amazing!
I have grown to love building my own furniture, not only because I can always get the exact look I want for a fraction of the price. But also because I love taking something from paper and making it into something I absolutely love. The feeling I get when I complete a build is amazing!
I partnered with BuildSomething.com (the Kreg Jig people) to build this patio set. I love working with them because there are so many amazing plans on their site to build. It is a great place to find plans for anything you need to build. You can find all of my building plans in my BuildSomething.com profile.

I know I’m going to have a lot of questions of where to get cushions to fit this chair. Any 24″ x 24″ cushion will fit. You will use the same cushion for the backrest as you do for the seat. Here are some of the cushions I’ve found that will fit this chair.
Where to buy outdoor cushions
- At Home – these are the cushions I used
- Home Depot
- Target
- Lowe’s
- Walmart
