Homemade Waffle Recipe (with Strawberry Sauce)
One of my most vivid memories while growing up is waking up to waffles on Sunday. My room was on the other side of the wall from the kitchen, and I’d often be woken up by the smell of homemade waffles, which honestly is pretty heavenly.
My mom ALWAYS made her waffles (and pretty much everything else, like Caramel Popcorn and Whip Cream) from scratch. And she always used Grandma Marie’s TOP SECRET Waffle Recipe.
(The recipe isn’t actually top secret, but doesn’t it make you want the recipe just a little bit more?)
It wasn’t until well into my high school years, and the days of sleepovers, when I realized that people don’t always make waffles from scratch.
SERIOUSLY!?
WHY??? Would you ever use a mix? These things are so- SO easy, and one of life’s purest delights.
They are light, fluffy, and slightly crispy on the outside. Perfect for a Sunday morning. They taste like Heaven.
And if it’s even possible to make Heaven taste any better, throw some strawberry sauce and whipped cream on top… YUM!!!
And Strawberry Waffles would not be complete without a little Whip Cream. It intensifies the taste of Heaven.
We had some of Grandma’s waffles on Sunday, and even though our house (and Molly’s hair) looks like a tornado came through it, I couldn’t help but feel totally happy and a little nostalgic.
I love that my kids get to wake up to the smell of Heaven, just like I did when I was growing up…. ahh, the sentiment!
