Using Plants to Decorate Indoors
It is amazing what a little greenery can do for your home. Not only do house plants help freshen the air, but they can also freshen your mood! I love how a simple potted plant can really perk up a space and make it feel more lively, fresh, and clean! I won’t lie, though. I don’t have a really green thumb. Honestly, I’m surprised my children survive under my care… And I’m guessing some of you don’t have green thumbs either. So today I’m going to share some tips and tricks for picking great houseplants, keeping them alive, and incorporating them into your space.
Step 1: Picking the right plants.
I have a really hard time when it comes to picking plants. I mean, I know what I think looks pretty, but sometimes looks ain’t everything. Am I right, or am I right? I loved using Costa Farm’s Plant finder to help me figure out what plants work best for my climate, my style, and my needs. I could pick if I wanted plants that would freshen the air, brighten my space, or even do things like attract butterflies.
This plant in my daughter’s room is called Celosia Intenz. I love it because it is quite drought tolerant, which is good for me! And the blooms are so bright and pretty. I love the way it looks on her nightstand. I also have the same type of plant on my dining room table. The color of this plant just can’t be beat, and it brings a smile to my face everytime I see it. And that’s what plants should do for us.
Step 2: Take good care of your plants!
Once I picked my plants from Costa Farms, I was sent detailed instructions for planting and care. They arrived in great condition, so I already had an advantage for keeping them alive and beautiful. And, if you ever have any questions, they have SO much information on their website, you’ll have all the tools you need to take great care of your plants.
Step 3: Incorporate plants into your space.
Sometimes it can be hard to know where to put plants, or how to decorate with them. I think plants look so natural and fresh, that it’s hard to go wrong with them. I’ve already shown you how I used my plants on my dining table and on my daughter’s nightstand table. I also used this Curcuma plant from Costa Farms on the Buffet in my Living Room. I paired it with a cute lamp, a planter box centerpiece, and some more greenery on a pedestal stand. Don’t you love how beautiful that plan looks sitting on a slice of tree trunk. This is just a piece of firewood I had my husband cut a slice of, and I put it under my plant. Doesn’t that look cool? Oh, and the greenery just really BRIGHTENS up this space so much!
If you aren’t sure how a plant will look in your space, I highly suggest using Costa Farm’s Style Finder to help you decide. You can pick from some photographs of room styles that are similar to yours, or even upload your OWN photo and place plants in your space to see how they would look. Um, hello! That is the coolest idea ever!
I really love using plants and greenery around my home. I love the way it makes my house feel and smell, and the way it keeps my house feeling fresh and clean. I hope you aren’t afraid to use live plants in your home, either. You are sure to love the way they make your home feel.
